S3fa Sparks Debate by Challenging Abortion Stigma and Condemning Hypocrisy

Ghanaian musician S3fa, a member of the Black Avenue record label, has sparked a significant debate by sharing her perspective on abortion, arguing that it should not be excessively condemned and calling out those who criticize it as hypocritical.

In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, the talented singer, best known for her hit song "E Choke," shed light on the prevalence of abortion in Ghana and criticized the tendency of individuals who have undergone the procedure to publicly condemn others who choose to openly discuss their experiences.

S3fa's comments were prompted by Yvonne Nelson's recent revelation about her own abortion thirteen years ago, which she disclosed in her memoir, "I am Not Yvonne Nelson."

According to S3fa, many of those who hastily condemn Yvonne Nelson have likely engaged in morally questionable actions themselves, yet hypocritically pass judgment as if they possess moral superiority.

When asked if she would personally share her own abortion experiences, considering the cultural disapproval surrounding the topic in their society, the confident singer expressed her belief that it should not be a major issue for her.

She asserted, "If I were to write my memoir today and include a section about abortion or any personal aspect of my life, I would not hesitate to include that part of my story. Unless I choose not to write a book at all, I would wholeheartedly embrace transparency and honestly share my experiences, including any abortions I might have had."

S3fa began her musical journey by captivating audiences with her live performances at various venues in Accra. In 2017, she caught the attention of D-Black, the CEO of Black Avenue Muzik, who signed her to the record label after discovering her through Instagram. That same year, she released her debut single "Marry Me," featuring Jupiter.

Continuing to make waves in the music industry, S3fa collaborated with the dynamic duo DopeNation on the track "Shuga," which was released in May 2018.

In November 2020, S3fa unveiled her highly anticipated debut album titled "Growth." The twelve-track project showcased her artistic growth and featured collaborations with prominent artists such as EL, Camidoh, Fameye, Sista Afia, Wendy Shay, and others.
